Today I would like you to open your closet and take a good look

What do you see?

Crammed hangers?

Clothes with the tags still on?

A historical archive of items from sizes long past?

One color only?

A pile of shoes?

More importantly, how does it make you feel?

I know, we have all been there, it’s the reason I love my work as a wardrobe consultant and closet organizer. I take the greatest delight in working with you to have a closet that works. A wardrobe that fits and never lets you down, full of great pieces that fit and flatter your silhouette. I want you to have options that show your personal style.

There is something about not dreading getting dressed that transforms your confidence. An organized closet also can set the mood for your day, you know what you can wear to that meeting, on your zoom call or for an evening out. It feels good to look good.

Closet sessions are a great way to transition from winter to spring. Let’s make a plan.

Love,

Judy

What's a Capsule Wardrobe? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2022/10/whats-a-capsule-wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe is a curated selection of clothing pieces that complement each other  and suit you in style and fit. Capsule wardrobes are often based on classic pieces and silhouettes that do not go out of style.  A capsule wardrobe allows you to create a variety of  outfits with a small selection of clothes. Having a solid capsule wardrobe can be an essential  choice, particularly for people who travel.

Do you have Decision Fatigue? A capsule wardrobe can be the answer to not wanting to make so many decisions about what to wear.  Too much choice is as exhausting as too little, but when every piece complements the others in terms of style and a flattering color palette that suits you, it is easier to make the right choice. The added style can come from the right accessories.

Lessen your stress. A capsule wardrobe can mean you don't have to dig through a pile of clothes to find something to wear.

Sustainability. A capsule wardrobe is a great way of creating a sustainable wardrobe. Timeless quality pieces that don't go out of style mean less fast fashion ending up in landfills.

Ready for travel. The world has opened up for travel again and a capsule concept is the perfect way to pack for a trip.

Creating Your Capsule. If you work regularly with me you already have a strong foundation of classic pieces that fit and flatter. My process involves reviewing what you have, what fits, what needs to be replaced or updated. If we're putting together a travel wardrobe, I can help you
put together a look that carries you through your travels in style.

Goodbye Sweats, Hello Style! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2022/8/goodbye-sweats-hello-style
Goodbye Sweats, Hello Style for Fall 2022!

It's time to take stock, review and reconsider your wardrobe. The essence of Fall Style 2022 is a return to a more dressy point of view. Goodbye sweats, hello personal style!

The freshest looks for women are skirts, dresses and tasteful layering, with bold patterns and accent color. For men, suits and sport jackets are back, maybe even a vest. You can still wear jeans 24/7 but a more sophisticated pairing is looking right this fall.

My wardrobe review session is more than just putting away your seasonal clothes. If you work regularly with me you already have a strong foundation of classic pieces that fit and flatter. My process involves reviewing what you have, what fits, what needs to be replaced or updated. After we assess what stays or goes after "shopping in your closet" we can then add in the pieces that will update your style for the Fall/Winter season.

No matter what size your closet is, having a fresh set of eyes to assess, advise and organize is really helpful. The last 2 years were not so much about fashion, more about Netflix and chill. Fall /Winter 2022's new direction points to a return to a social lifestyle, back to the office and traveling. It will feel great to be ready to enjoy friends and life again.

The Art of the Wardrobe Flip https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2022/3/the-art-of-the-wardrobe-flip

It’s Time for a Change of Seasons for Your Wardrobe

Every Spring and Fall it’s time for a session where we flip your wardrobe. The process is more than just putting away your seasonal clothes. It is a time to take stock and review your wardrobe. A chance to say hello to old friends that were tucked away and let go of what no longer serves your lifestyle.
My process involves reviewing what you have, what fits, what needs to be replaced or updated and then donate or take to resale.
No matter what size your closet is, having a fresh set of eyes to assess and advise and organize is so helpful.
A wardrobe flip can make a huge difference in your style, it saves you time and money when you know what you have and what you need to look and feel fabulous. After 2 years of wearing our athleisure and very few places to go it might be time to upgrade your wardrobe and have fun getting dressed in style!

“I have worked with several stylists over the years and each person brings their unique gift. I am currently working with Judy and all I can say she is magic! She was able to tune into my essence and who I am and put together outfits in my closet very quickly. She takes photos with the outfits we put together so I have them to refer to easily! More importantly I feel great in everything I wear. Judy is also generous with taking unwanted items to consignment and to a homeless encampment in her community.  She is all about simplicity, elegance and sustainability!
Judy also introduced me to an amazing jeweler who accepted my mother’s heirloom jewelry pieces and remade them into a modernized version that resonates with my personality.
Judy is a joy to work with and frankly I can’t wait until our next meeting and have her work her magic again with my wardrobe! ”

Winds of Change https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2021/11/winds-of-change Conscious _Consumption
It's becoming more important than ever to learn to practice conscious consumption vs conspicuous consumption and I'm here to guide you through it.
I have always been big on the idea of shopping and organizing your closet before you add to your wardrobe. Your wardrobe should be about your personal style.
Your personal style and your mood have an ongoing and direct relationship to one another. How you dress impacts how you feel, and how you feel affects how you dress.
The items that bring out the best in you and show your style aren't usually "mood of the moment trendies" but pieces that fit and flatter, your classics that you can rely on and wear day after day. I prefer quality over quantity. It's disheartening to see items in a closet with the tags still on them because a client purchased them on a whim and they really didn't work for their lifestyle or figure.
Let's work together to make you a savvy, conscious shopper with a closet full of clothes you'll look forward to wearing.
Let's find your personal style!

The Art of Conscious Consumption https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2021/9/the-art-of-conscious-consumption Conscious _Consumption Are you concerned about the future?
I’m sure you are, I know I am. Want to do something about it? The right place to start is your own closet. The current trend in style is turning away from conspicuous consumption to conscious consumption.
Believe me when I say that conscious consumption is truly an art in the same way that personal style is an art. What you chose to wear is more important than ever, fast fashion needs to go, it’s one of the major causes of pollution and waste in today’s world.
Why do you want to start in your own closet? In my experience, your own closet is the first place to shop. Your closet usually contains items that are wearable and a reflection of you and your taste. I love to create new style options from what you already own and then focus on updating your wardrobe with quality pieces that you will really wear. Personal style really matters and together we can develop your personal style in a way that is conscious and brings out the best in you.

So have the courage to say goodbye to fast fashion and say hello to quality personal style.

Let Your Closet Spark Some Joy https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2021/5/let-your-closet-spark-some-joy
I know, we're all coming out of hibernation. Things are getting better in a slow roll out. But you can feel it; even if you're not ready for prime time. I say "Out with the sweatpants, in with some fresh, personal style."

Now is a great time to review, rearrange and rethink your closet, let's get together and decide what sparks joy, looks right and fits too!

We can also focus on eliminating items that definitely "don't spark joy" in fact, they may have something about them that has a past memory that no longer fits your lifestyle.

Let's edit out those pieces from your wardrobe and keep what will truly make you look and feel fantastic

It's going to be wonderful to be able to step outside from your 2020 bubble into a world that's moving forward with confidence and style.

My Style Angel

No more stress-filled hours of staring at my clothes and wondering what to wear. Now getting dressed for any occasion is an elevated, uplifting and enjoyable experience!"

My personal philosophy is based on shopping your closet and helping you find your personal style so you don't fall victim to the pressure of consumerism and end up with a wardrobe that constantly requires purchasing things that you won't end up wearing. I'm thrilled when we put together a look that brings out the best in YOU.
Let's work together to define and refine your style.

Why Jane Fonda Matters https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2021/3/why-jane-fonda-matters

Jane Fonda has been an enduring style icon for decades. She's so much more than an actor though, she's an outspoken environmentalist, a fitness guru, and human rights activist. She is also an icon of personal style, that's why she chose to accept the Cecil B. DeMille award at the Golden Globes in a previously worn tux by Richard Tyler she pulled from her own closet.

"I vowed a couple of years ago I would never buy any new clothes again. We spend too much money, we buy too many things, and then we get rid of them. We try to develop our identity by shopping, right? We gotta stop that. Stop all this consumerism, I had to go through my closet and find out something that still fit me and I have worn before, and I found something. I'm all set."
Jane Fonda

Jane matters, because at 83, she is true to herself and her philosophy on life, it keeps her relevant. Jane understands the difference between her personal style and her identity as a woman. It's the difference between being a style icon vs. a fashion victim.

My personal philosophy is based on shopping your closet first and helping you find your personal style so you don't fall victim to the pressure of consumerism. That way you don't end up with a wardrobe that constantly requires purchasing things that you won't end up wearing. I'm thrilled when we put together a look that brings out the best in YOU.
It's time, let's work together to define and refine your style.

Is Your Closet a Time Capsule? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2021/1/is-your-closet-a-time-capsule

Is Your Closet a Time Capsule?

The Moment
The whole world is experiencing a dramatic pivot. 2020 created a need for dramatic change from how we live and work, to how we will move into the future. I see this as a true opportunity to reimagine, rethink and renew in 2021.

The Mood
Elegantly casual has become the new style energy. There is a fresh simplicity coming forward that suits working from home, entertaining and social interaction as we all move forward.

The Issue
Your closet may be a time capsule. Is it full of unusable or little worn items that are a symbol of the past? Not to worry, I can help you reduce, renew and recycle what’s no longer relevant to your lifestyle. Wardrobe refinement is an uplifting process, it will make you feel confident and current, ready to straighten your posture and smile into your future.

The Process

We start with assessing what works and what fits as well as what reflects your lifestyle needs. Then we may add essential purchases that are worth adding to your wardrobe to give it a fresh update. The workable options are documented so you have a record of the combinations that best express your personal style.

The Result
It’s much easier to face the world when you feel great and have personal style!
My website has testimonials that let you know how wonderful an experience it can be.
Let’s lose the time capsule and be here now.

With Much Love and Hope for 2021,
Judy

Masks - Embracing YOUR new normal https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/10/masks-embracing-your-new-normal

Embracing YOUR new normal

I don’t think the current situation will turn around any time soon. It’s time to wear your mask and be prepared. My take on this is to do it with style, finding the type and size of mask that brings out the best in you and enables you to confidently face the world.

From an article in Vogue:
“The best face masks for civilians to wear are made of cloth. Leave the surgical masks and N95s for the healthcare professionals and essential workers. Besides, designers have been in the fabric-mask game for a long time."

My personal style advice here is to buy quite a few masks, 3-layer types or ones with changeable pm filters. And don’t forget the moldable nose wire, it will keep your glasses from fogging.

The marketplace is full of options that are washable. If you go out daily, I recommend having 7 masks so you always have a fresh one when you need to go out. Have 5 everyday ones in simple black or neutral colors that flatter your eye color, because when you wear a mask, your eyes really stand out, especially when you smile. Avoid white masks, they stain too easily. Soap and water are effective against Covid so wash your masks after every wearing.

Small UVC sanitizer boxes are perfect for extra security, they run a cycle that kills bacteria and Covid, See one here:
Vemingo UVC Light Sanitizer Bag

It’s not just about the rules but learning to express your style with the mask you choose. In San Francisco people are really catching on to it as a fashion accessory. It’s better to have 10 masks ready to wash and wear that go with what you’re wearing, you will feel better about doing it. See an easy option here:
Cloth Face Mask Reusable Washable Cover, Triple Layer Shield, Nose Bridge, 3 Pack
Consider carrying a packaged unused spare so you can share if you get yourself into a situation where someone does not have one. Amazon has multi packs of individual washable ones. Don’t end up feeling uncomfortable when socializing with someone who forgot their mask, just give them one.
And of course, I have done a bit of online searching for some fabulous masks that add style. I love St Johns Knits Masks. They offer washable options from tweeds to silk blend masks, tasteful animal prints and even tasteful sequin embellished ones. Let me know if we can shop for the right mask for you; I have found some great sites and resources that you will love.
For men, I like simple, adjustable masks. Nothing extravagant, just tasteful. for this style, Nordstrom's donates a mask to people in need

It's Already in Your Closet! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/9/its-already-in-your-closet

You just can't see it.

Many of the clothing stores are open again and I did quite a bit of exploration on behalf of you, my clients. My overall appraisal of what’s on offer is a refreshed approach to casual with amped up styling that reflects your new normal.

My personal policy where you are concerned is “if it’s not a WOW or an essential, we do not buy!”.

An insight I gained from this is, that many of you can’t see what you own. We don't wear what we can't see. You may be wearing only 10 or 20% of your own wardrobe because you simply cannot see everything that is there.  It's also one of the reasons that some people overshop; they don't know what they own because they can't see it all. The cluttered closet full of items that are not well hung or stored in a way that you can see them is at the heart of the issue. The uncluttered closet saves you time and money because you can see what you own.

My sessions start with a review and assessment of what’s there and what fits and flatters or helps to define your signature style. Then the so so items get recycled and we decide together what you may need in terms of updates to your wardrobe. I have a great sense of what suits you. I love to get to know a client and guide them through the process of creating looks that reflect who they are, not just going for the mood of the moment but creating a personal style.

You're better off with a small amount of great than a large amount of just OK. You'll wear more of what you have. Remember, we are aiming to get close to 100% wearability out of your wardrobe.  And you'll feel great in everything that you wear.

Don't forget, your Fall wardrobe assessment and closet edit can be done virtually as well.

Here's to living your life with Style and Good Health!

Let MY Fingers Do The Walking For YOU

As many of you already know, my fashion savvy was honed from my history as a professional shopper in San Francisco, shopping stores and boutiques for my clients and developing a style sense with them when fashion just became a sensory overload. As time went on I expanded to offer additional services that were vital.

From experience, I found that an organized closet and a style review were what you needed, not just a new outfit that you might wear once.

Well, our world has changed. Stores aren't open and you still need to look good, and want to look good, even if it's on a zoom call. That's where I can help. I know  that online shopping can be a challenge for a lot of my clients. I LOVE to shop online, I know what makes you look great and reflects your style and I cut through the trendy fashion noise and help you get what you need to keep your confidence and style in place.
Call me and we can discuss what you need to get through these challenging times.

Here's to living your life with Style and Good Health!

"When it came time to add a few things to my stable of clothes Judy's services include shopping for you (so you never have to step inside a store...and returning things if you don't want them...)  There is never a "hard sell."  Judy's energy is positive and creative, and her energy is infectious. She is efficient--PLUS she knows when and where the sales are. My closet has never looked so good, and neither have I."

“I would never have gotten through the maze of online shopping for my mother of the bride dress if it weren't for Judy's gentle touch and helping hand. First of all, I would never have imagined shopping on-line for such an important day, but all things considered at the beginning of Covid-19, what's a MOB to do? Judy was like a laser, honing in on just the right style and look I wanted. She held my proverbial hand as we shopped on Zoom, sifting through hundreds of dresses. Like a magician, she found 4 dresses I absolutely loved. (I bought two, just in case). What I thought was going to be a nightmare was actually fun! She's the best kept secret in Northern California.”

I'm Here for YOU! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/3/im-here-for-you
To My Wonderful Clients,

Covid-19 has truly changed our world. Sheltering in place is the right thing to do; but don't confuse sheltering in place with hibernating in place.
The world must go on, together we must find ways to continue our careers, follow our passions and keeps our spirit alive. Whether it's learning how to connect and communicate in a new way, creating a new routine for your day, or finally taking the time to reorganize and revitalize your personal space I want you to know that I am here for you.
The most simple things can make a huge difference during this period. Allowing yourself to fall into the habit of lounging in your pajamas and not exercising self care are a dangerous trap. I'm truly devoted to all of you and I know we can get through this together with a spiritual and practical goal.
I know many of you depend upon the emotional, physical, and creative support my work provides as well as the uplifting effect of feeling that you are still on track in your life.
I am available for customized FaceTime virtual consultations at special rates and can guide you through self revitalization and reorganization to cope with this trying time.

Stay Well and Carry on!

Closet Detox Day 5 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/2/closet-detox-day-5

An easy way to make a major upgrade to your closet is by replacing your messy, mismatched hangers with high quality, matching ones. In addition to dramatically improving the look of your closet, nice hangers function better and enable you to readily see your clothes.
Buy matching hangers. The slimline flocked ones are really wonderful, they hold your clothes and keep the shoulders from stretching.

Don't want to rehang it all?
Once again, let me know if you need help. Changing out mismatched hangers can be part of a closet organization or wardrobe assessment session.

"Judy entered my closet like a whirlwind. She had me try on every item of clothing -- anything that did not serve me, was put in the "Goodwill" pile. Then she created outfits with the clothes that suited me--OMG! She even looked through my rarely worn jewelry and scarves and accessorized me. She captured each created outfit with a photo so I could remember it. Such magic created with the clothes I already had hanging in my closet--many of which were never or rarely worn. Wow! Wow! Wow!"

Closet Detox Day 4 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/2/closet-detox-day-4

Belts can take up a large amount of hanging space.
It's likely you don't wear most of them frequently, why not reclaim that space?
The most important step is to try them on and get rid of the ones that don't fit.

  • My favorite way to store belts is in stackable shallow bins
  • Sort by color and/or style (wide vs. narrow).
  • Loosely coil your belts and put in a single layer.
  • Bins can be kept on a shelf or in a drawer
  • If you have the time, I recommend using leather conditioner to keep them from drying out.

If you need my help because your accessories are out of control:
Once again, let me know if you need help with assessment and organization. Great drawer organizers and closet storage containers make all the difference.

"What an amazing change in my life! Having you work your magic on my messy, overcrowded closet and helping me purge and find all sorts of hidden treasures in my own closet was such a great treat. Thank you for all your magic and hard work!!!"

Open the Drawer, dump it on the floor! Then vacuum and wipe it out.
If you want to create more drawer space, organize your socks,
the results are very rewarding.

  • Separate according to purpose and / or color
  • Get rid of any orphan socks
  • Get rid of ones that you don’t wear, even if you love the color
  • Inspect tights and stockings for runs and wear
  • Roll pairs so the can be easily seen when you open the drawer
  • this is a drawer where an in-drawer organizer can make your life easier

If you need my help....

Let me help you end the battle with your closet or sock drawer! One of my best talents is for organization and I know great resources for drawer organizers and closet storage containers as well as tips for keeping it organized.

Closet Detox Day 2 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/1/closet-detox-day-2

Fearlessly assess your cabinets!

What to Toss:

  • Products that have expired
  • Products that you have not used in 3 months
  • Products that have changed color or odor
  • Products that don’t - fit your lifestyle - be it in ease of use, appearance or time required
  • Products that don’t suit your skin or hair type
  • Unopened items [hotel toiletries etc.]

Take the time to rinse the exterior of containers and wash the nylon puffs, loofas and specialty brushes in a net bag that you can throw in the washing machine on gentle. This step is a great addition to creating a life with minimal clutter.

In the case of unopened products, these can be donated to local charities, call me and I can refer you to one.

If you need my help:
You don't need to do this on your own, decluttering your bath and cabinets can be a part of any session we have planned. I also offer phone consultation services to help you get started and stay motivated.

The 5 Day Closet Detox https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2020/1/the-5-day-closet-detox

The 5-Day Detox Plan!
Clear the clutter for a beautiful life.
Your life, your home, your career, there's just never enough time for it all. You want a simple plan for getting it together and keeping it together. Clearing the clutter will make a difference in how you feel.

Here is a simple 5-day detox, done one step at a time to help you accomplish a few things that will detox and help shift your energy.
I will direct you to do a simple task once a week for 5 weeks.
If you find yourself needing more help and guidance, I'm here for you.

Who doesn't have a ton of beauty products you don't use?
It's time to pull out your makeup bag and open that drawer

I recommend the following rules to help you decide what to toss:
  • Products that have expired
  • Products that you have not used in 3 months
  • Products that have changed color or odor
  • Products that don’t - fit your lifestyle - be it in ease of use, appearance or time required
  • Products that are less than ¼ full
  • Products that don’t -make you feel excited - after all, that is the main goal of all beauty products
  • Unopened items [hotel toiletries etc.]
Take the time to wipe clean the exterior containers and wash the brushes in mild soap, this will be good for your skin, continual use of less than clean brushes can irritate your skin.

In the case of unopened products, these can be donated to local charities, call me and I can refer you to one.

If you need my help:
You don't need to do this on your own, decluttering your cosmetic bags, drawers and bath can be a part of any session we have planned. I also offer phone consultation services to help you get started.

"Re-find" your style! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2019/11/-re-find-your-style

Feeling like you’ve lost your Style?

Your style has the power to make you feel incredible at any age or body type. Style that seemed so easy in the past often doesn’t suit the way you live today. We all have affinities for fashionable trends and mood of the moment impulse purchases; many that end up gathering dust. Fashion and trend imposes a type of tyranny that can be a trap.
A lot of what you need is already in your closet, it’s just hard to find among those impulse purchases and unwearable items. That’s why a “shop your closet” session is a good place to begin.

The actual process of editing your wardrobe is cleansing and liberating, your personal style will start to emerge. In my experience, most clients already have a personal style that may not shine through. This is an issue for both men and women, they know what they like but they may not understand how to create a great base wardrobe that fits and complements their lifestyle.

I love helping people define and “re-find” their personal style. When I see the confidence boost it gives my clients to face the world in the best possible way it gives me a lot of joy.

And, if it’s not you that requires a style transformation, I have
gift certificates!

"Style is something each of us already has,
all we need to do is find it."
Diane von Furstenberg

“Judy came into my closet not that long ago. She helped me rework my clothing to create more outfits,

her talented eye gave my wardrobe a fun flair!!
Judy's approach is collaborative and not a heavy-handed affair. She is loving and patient.”

Sometimes it’s best to say no to the dress! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2019/9/sometimes-its-best-to-say-no-to-the-dress

“The person should be more important than the clothes. We need to do less.
There is too much fashion, too much clothes, too much of everything.”
Miuccia Prada

What goes around comes around

It’s happening right here, right now. We are waking up to the issues of climate change and how it will affect our lives. One of the most important waves is about what we choose to wear and how we wear it. Young people are turning to vintage and resale clothes and it’s an emerging trend not to hang on to what we own but to keep it in circulation and dial it back a big notch as consumers.

As an image consultant one of the services I offer is shopping your closet. Together we review what you have that fits and what doesn’t before we make any purchases. For example: that gorgeous leather pencil skirt you bought years ago may not fit you or your current lifestyle and it’s time for it to go to someone who will be able to wear and love it. The same goes for handbags, shoes, accessories, ties and sport coats or suits that pile up and don’t get worn because they no longer suit you. Once we get it down to what works for you then we can fill in with items that will update your look and give you options that fit and feel right.

What to do with the edits? I can take care of that too, depending on condition and value. Most of my clients opt for donation and there are several worthy organizations that I like who provide great services for the less fortunate. It’s a way to feel good about helping others and enable someone to have quality clothing options.

I also can help if items of high value need to go to alternative resources. I have a network of resale options that will work for you.

If it doesn’t fit or work for your lifestyle it’s time to say no!

“I knew my wardrobe needed help, but I didn't realize how easy it would be and how beneficial.
We spent time sorting through my closet to pull out some of the more “vintage” items as a starting point.
Judy pre-shopped on my behalf and recommended a handsome array of possibilities.
In a very short time I had an entirely new look"

Vacation Tips & Tricks https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2019/6/vacation-tips-tricks "Judy is an amazing style consultant, organizer and a packing queen!  She has helped me pack for multiple trips including a 3-week African safari with just a carry on!  Judy works with me to organize all of my clothes, accessories and jewelry so I am always well dressed and unstressed when I am on my trip! "
Diane | Tiburon

One of the services I offer is assistance in planning and packing for vacations and travel. You may think you can do it yourself but if your life is busy and you save packing until the last minute you might want to try a more organized approach.
There is an art to packing for any kind of trip that might elude you, if you find yourself with too many suitcases and realizing that you neglected to pack essentials upon arrival it’s time to ask for help.
Whether you are taking the vacation of a lifetime, an overnight business trip or going to a destination event there is an organized way to pack for it that will give you more time to relax and enjoy rather than having to run out and buy a toothbrush or cell phone cord the minute you check in.

Here are a few travel tips:
  • Have a “go bag” equipped for the spot you are going to. Beach? A foldable tote with reef safe sunscreen, an extra pair of sunglasses, beach sandals and a refillable water bottle. (single use plastics are out!)
  • Reef safe sunscreen is the new go to product. It’s better for the environment and you might want to pick one that works for you before you go. Hawaii, Key West and Mexico have banned certain sun products because the ingredients damage coral reefs. Read more here: http://safesunscreencouncil.org/
  • Traveling with kids or grandkids? They need their own backpack go bags with their essentials so you don’t have to remember for them. A handy list for them to remind them of what they need to take as well as an ID tag with your phone and info on it can make traveling a lot easier. IPads or phones with earplugs can make the airport time go more easily.
  • Resist the urge to package everything in baggies that might not make it all the way through your trip. single use plastic is out, instead invest in washable silicone bags that are waterproof, leakproof and will hold up as well as keep your exploding shampoo bottle from ruining your clothes. See them here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GVHXRDJ/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_ONtcDbH8GY79A
  • Everyone needs to have a pair of comfortable walking shoes for the airport and sightseeing. Those cute new sandals from the gift shop may leave you blistered after a day of hiking through the Tuscan hillside towns.

Why is it so Hard to Spring Clean? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2019/4/why-is-it-so-hard-to-spring-clean
In my career as an image consultant I find this to be a surprisingly universal problem. That’s why sometimes you need emotional support to do the deep clean that will lighten your soul and give you a fresh perspective on life.
For many of us, our closet slowly turns into an archive of our past life, making it almost impossible to move ahead, really see what we have, or what is essential vs. what is superfluous. Then when you hear someone say to keep what “sparks joy” it doesn’t make sense. The concept of spring cleaning is about welcoming a change and letting go of the unnecessary, airing it all out to let new energy in. When was the last time you saw air between the hangers in your closet or space in your drawers?  Or for that matter, your significant other or children’s closets?
Many of my clients have acknowledged the importance of having someone to do a deep clean with, it goes much faster and stops being a dreaded task and becomes a transformative process.
This effect can be a true metamorphosis. Plus, the joy of seeing what you forgot you have and creating some fun at the same time. Try it, you will love it!

"My friends thought I had a look but the truth was that it was a “grab and go" haphazard process just to dress, let alone have a look. Judy helped me not only define my look but found it in my chaotic closet. My closet is now organized, the compliments flow, and I have a new friend and we laugh a lot!!
I gave my husband sessions with Judy for our anniversary. He loved her too. Now he and I show each other possible outfits and ask, "What would Judy say"?  Thank you, Judy, for bringing us calm and dressing with confidence in our unique styles!"

I just can't tidy up!! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2019/1/i-just-cant-tidy-up
I just can't tidy up!!
It's a new year and you have the burning desire to turn a new leaf, get it together and make a life for yourself that works. Many of us don't have that momentum. That declutter project, so high on your new year's list of resolutions sometimes stalls before it starts.
Well, I wholeheartedly agree with Marie Kondo about the magic that streamlining your home can bring to your life and relationships.
I realize that some of my clients require many different levels of help. Some need just a simple consult and a plan and some need help with it all. I can bring some organizational magic into your life that will just make every day easier to negotiate, from having an organized closet with everything in its place, to a kitchen or storage spot that won't overwhelm you with chaos.

Most importantly, I can also help you through the process of identifying and letting go of the nonessential possessions that block your energy and weigh you down. Many of my clients discover that emotional support is a must, we can't always make big transitions on our own. If you are ready for a big transition to a more organized life, or even the first baby steps towards it, I'm here for you.

"I Loved today’s closet editing session. I felt empowered by the experience and happy to donate the many good things that don’t suit me anymore!
I felt very comfortable with you, it’s not only great Feng Shui, but cleansing for the soul in letting go. You have mastered the art of editing; bringing in your knowledge and spirituality, which turns the process into magic."

Creating Personal Style https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2018/9/creating-personal-style
Creating a personal style that reflects who you are is essential to the way we live today. Looking and feeling comfortable in your clothes and environment is only part of your story, just a generation ago style meant dressing in the latest designer’s line, i.e. their vision of how you should look. Now the emphasis is on making your own magic.

Whether you are a busy executive who needs to convey a lot of personal power with your look, or a casual laid-back type who wants to live in athleisure, your style should show your best self to the world. Finding your personal style isn’t something you need do on your own, my experience as a stylist and image consultant can help you find your best look and then help you keep it together so you always look great. I would like to share a great story from a client:

“I was going through a divorce, and needed a boost in my self-image.  I found Judy through a Google search for 'image consultants'. Over introductory coffee, she asked insightful and (appropriately) probing questions, then fit me in her busy calendar, knowing I had just a week in San Francisco before returning to my life in Europe. Within two efficient and fun sessions at Nordstroms, complete with energy bars and water bottles (for hydration!), Judy helped me pick out a new wardrobe that suited my style, got me (gently) out of my comfort zone, and gave me great confidence to step boldly into my new life.  She also kept within my budget, with the exception of a great pair of shoes that I just needed to have, and don't regret for one minute. I've received many compliments on my new look, and feel ready to face the world with renewed confidence.” Bridget M

Still Got "IT" https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2018/4/still-got-it

HAVE YOU STILL GOT "IT"?
We all instinctively know what "it" is, that indefinable feeling you get when you know you are putting your best self forward. "It" is what happens when you are going in the flow of life with your own personal style.
"It" just feels right.
The world would like us to believe that you have to be 20 and gorgeous to have "it". This is a big misconception. You can have "it" at any age. Developing your signature style sometimes takes a little work, assistance and advice from a professional. I became an image consultant because I know how to recognize what works for someone; I truly love guiding people to their best self; helping them discover their "it" and then helping them keep that confidence, feeling and attitude.

Let's work together to find your "it". Your own signature style that makes you look and feel like you have it right.

Dress Your Age! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/10/dress-your-age

As we all get older not everyone gets wiser about what to wear.  Many women (and men too!) mistake youthful dressing with being young, a formula that often backfires. It's important to understand the difference between personal style and trends in fashion.

If you dress with great personal style the effect is ageless, it gives you the indefinable, elusive quality that elevates you above the trendy masses and into your own strata. I always aspire to help my clients find their own personal style. It's often a process of wardrobe editing as well as organizing, so that it's easy to put together the look that radiates YOU.

Lots of wardrobes are clogged with youthful trends that seemed like a good idea at the time but not in real life. My greatest moments are when a client realizes that their best personal style was already in their own closet, it just takes refining and editing to make it come together.

So why dress your age when you can dress your style?
That's the essential ingredient that will make all the difference in your world.

The BIG Downsize https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/9/the-big-downsize

The New York Times recently had an interesting article in their money section:

Aging Parents With Lots of Stuff, and Children Who Don’t Want It

The focus was on retiring and transitioning parents whose children don’t want to inherit or take on the household possessions that were so important to them but are no longer essential to their life. It turns out that their children don’t want them either. Many are only interested in family photographs and keepsakes but don’t have a lifestyle that requires fine china. This article really hit home with me!

I’ve had many interesting ongoing experiences with my clients who are in downsize mode about what to do with the things that were important to them but not important to their children.

My instinct is to encourage them to ask their children what they want and follow through on it. Then have the courage to edit down your possessions and  determine what is really essential and meaningful. My experience in arranging and guiding transitions, in a gentle supportive way can take the trauma and drama out of the equation for you.

Life transitions don’t have to be rocky, planning and organization are the secret to minimizing the stress. You don’t have to do this alone; some help simplifying and organizing your life during a transition can make all the difference. Knowing what to keep, what to donate or give away or just identifying what is unnecessary baggage are key. Together we can assess and make a plan that will work for you.

Here's to living your life with Style!

"Thank you so much for having such wonderful vision for my bathroom. The way you organized my make-up, rearranged drawers, and positioned my art created the spa-like atmosphere I have been searching for. You are extremely talented and I thank you for helping me achieve peace, beauty and serenity in a place that used to be frustrating."

EVERYONE NEEDS A STYLIST (SOMETIMES) https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/5/everyone-needs-a-stylist-sometimes EVERYONE NEEDS A STYLIST (SOMETIMES)

Recently I have been posting photos on my facebook page of classic Hollywood stars that epitomize incredible personal style. Those of you who follow me on facebook really seem to love and resonate with simple, classic style, the kind that transcends everyday mundane looks and radiates poise and polish even in the simplest jeans and tshirt.
In the old Hollywood system, stars under contract were styled and dressed by the best, it was part of what the studios offered to them. In today's world, stars rely on image consultants and personal stylists to keep them looking their best whether it's on the red carpet or on the way to the grocery store.

YOU MIGHT ASK WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO WITH ME?

My point is, having a stylist, someone who instinctively knows what looks good on you and helps you develop your "star qualities" is important.
Great styling starts with wardrobe and grooming. Wardrobe editing and organization are essential to having a doable lifestyle and helps pave the way to great everyday style.
We all need a little help with styling, it helps to understand how others see us as well as how we see ourself. It's one of the many components that inspired me to become an image consultant. My years in fashion and personal shopping really gives me the experience necessary to bring out the best in you.

YOUR RED CARPET MOMENTS

You need a stylist for your life's big moments: weddings, anniversaries and major life events or transitions. If cameras and photography are to be involved I can help you show off your "red carpet style", it can be a real confidence booster during those special events.

Here's to living your life with Style!

Detox Day 5 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/5/detox-day-5
An easy way to make a major upgrade to your closet is by replacing your messy, mismatched hangers with high quality, matching ones.

Wow! Wow! Wow!"

Detox Day 4 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/2/detox-day-4
Belts can take up a large amount of hanging space.
It's likely you don't wear most of them, why not reclaim that space?
The most important step is to try them on and get rid of the ones that don't fit.
  • My favorite way to store belts is in stackable shallow bins.

Detox Day 3 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/2/detox-day-3

Open the Drawer, dump it on the floor! Then vacuum and wipe it out.

If you want to create more drawer space, organize your socks,
the results are very rewarding.

  • Dump all of your socks on the floor.
  • Separate according to purpose and / or color
  • Get rid of any orphan socks
  • Get rid of ones that you don’t wear, even if you love the color
  • Inspect tights and stockings for runs and wear

If you need my help because this can be a monumental project:
Let me help you end the battle with your sock drawer! One of my best talents is for organization and I know great resources for drawer organizers and closet storage containers as well as tips for keeping it organized.

"Judy insisted on clearing the clutter from my closet including getting rid of letters from lovers past, hats and t shirts that my ex wore, and dust bunnies. She organized, folded and hung all my clothes and shoes in the cleared space. Finally, she helped me create an altar in my closet that honors my feminine. My closet is cleared and is now sacred space.
The experience was so profound."

Day 2 of the 5 Day Detox https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/2/day-2-of-the-5-day-detox

This one is super simple, the same rules apply.
Don't forget to fearlessly assess your cabinets!

The 5-Day Detox Plan! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2017/1/the-5-day-detox-plan

The 5-Day Detox Plan!

Many of my clients struggle with the sheer weight of keeping it all together. Your life, your home, your career, there's just never enough time for it all. You want a simple plan for getting it together and keeping it together.
I am offering a simple 5-day detox, done one step at a time to help you accomplish a few things that will detox and help shift your energy.
I will direct you to do a simple task once a week for 5 weeks

Are you FEELING like this?

It’s holiday time and you are entering panic mode. Even if you opt to vacation for your holidays, packing and preparing can be the thing that just makes you want to bury your head in the sand.
Why does it all seem to be just a little too much to handle?

Let’s navigate the season together. What becomes a legend most? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2016/9/what-becomes-a-legend-most

What becomes a legend most?

This is a Madison Avenue tagline from the 70’s that defined an era for style icons. It’s about personal style. It’s a concept that goes beyond beauty. A huge part of my philosophy of dressing is helping you find your personal style. Some people are born with it, but most need to develop it.  They need to know what looks good on them.

Sometimes it’s a certain piece of clothing that become your signature or trademark, e.g. Jackie O’s white jeans and giant sunglasses, Andy Warhol’s bow tie, Pharrell’s hats, Steve Jobs black turtleneck and jeans, Sophia Lauren in a plunging neckline

Once we find those pieces that define our look, life gets easier. Putting a great outfit together
becomes simple when you know your signature look.

In a personal style session we will explore the options that work for you and your lifestyle. My experience in the world of fashion has given me the eye for what works and what doesn't for my clients. And why exactly is this important? The impact of personal style goes far beyond making a good first impression; great style is also about approaching each day with confidence, and letting your personal style shine through!

Here's to living your life with style!

"Working with Judy has been a pure delight!  In addition to the very practical aspects of creating new looks, it has been an energizing creative process.
It's like investing in a great painting or sculpting class!

5 Easy Pieces | Summer https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2016/6/5-easy-pieces-summer

Why Do Women Spend Less on Fashion After 45?

This is the title from a recent Wall Street Journal article about how statistics indicate that women spend much less on their wardrobe after the age of 45. It poses the question:

"Why would a woman’s enthusiasm for fashion slow just as her household income is reaching its highest level and her career and social requirements are at their most demanding?"

I think for many women that I consult with, "enthusiasm for fashion" is not a realistic way to describe what is happening for them. I find the fashion savvy woman who knows her style doesn't need to buy as much if she has learned to buy well. Your 20's and 30's are where most make mistakes, confusing fashion and trend with style and not having a personal sense of what looks best on you as well as what suits your lifestyle.

As a seasoned wardrobe professional, many of my first time clients' closets are full of outdated trendy items that are waiting for a revival. In my experience, clothes that are too fashion-oriented go out of style long before they wear out.

In contrast, many of my longtime clients now have closets that focus on their unique personal style, they don't have a need to buy as much because together we have built a strong "core wardrobe" of functional pieces and developed a schedule of wardrobe assessments to keep their closet uncluttered and full of pieces that fit well and work for their lifestyle. The result is that there isn't a need to buy a new wardrobe every year, just to buy key pieces that have meaning and will be worn more than once and in different ways and combinations, for me, this is what personal style is really all about.

Click here to see a gallery of 5 easy pieces that should be
in every woman's summer wardrobe no matter what age she is.

Let me help you sort the "must-haves" from the "wish-I-had-nots".
Let's book a session and find your 5 easy pieces!

Street Style, YOUR Way https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2016/3/street-style-your-way
You don’t always have to buy the latest fashions to have style.

I post a lot of “street style” on my facebook page, it’s where fashion really begins these days. Realistically speaking, street style is personal style, you can instantly perceive that person has a special style, whether it’s classic or a bit out there. Everybody has street style, it’s the ones who know how to put their look together in a way that suits them that we notice.

That’s how Lady Gaga got her start. She was known and noted for her outlandish outfits. After a style rehab with a prominent Hollywood stylist that changed her whole look, she’s now projecting a more sophisticated, classic style that will give her more celebrity staying power.

Getting back to my point, putting together a look that will really make YOU stand out and reflect who YOU are takes a little bit of work and consideration.

Very often I find that clients already have a personal style but can’t quite put clothes and accessories together in a way that expresses their essence. In a closet session this is something we always work on. I will help you assess what you have and put together a lookbook to give you a context for your personal style. What’s currently in your closet can become the foundation for your special style, creating the looks and combinations that really bring out the best in you.
Let's find YOUR street style
“Judy has the most impeccable style. She is a true artist of fashion, and I feel blessed to have learned so much from her. I think of her every time I wear my favorite outfits. She's one of the best I know when it comes to organizing a closet. She is so much fun to work with as well. She has such a genius creative eye, and succeeds in pulling together the perfect look for each occasion.”

Men, it's time to suit up! https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2015/11/men-its-time-to-suit-up Men it's time to suit up!!
With the holidays fast approaching, it's is the time of year we socialize most with family, friends and business acquaintances.
You need to have a wardrobe that will carry you through the season in style and comfort as well as appropriate for the occasion.
Although this email is directed at men, it applies to women too.

Holiday parties and get togethers require many dress options from ultra-casual to suits and it's good for both men and women to consider a closet assessment before you start spending on a holiday wardrobe. While it's great to have a fantastic sales person who can help you identify what looks great on you, it's even better to know what you have and what you need before heading off to the shops.

I have a fantastic formula for holiday dressing, putting together a wardrobe that covers all the bases, so you don't fall into the trap of overdressing or underdressing for a celebration or worse, wearing the same look over and over.

In a closet session we can review your current wardrobe, assess what fits and what needs to go. Then we can make a plan for filling in the gaps and find the clothes you need and will look forward to wearing.

We can discover what
suits you and your lifestyle and what your personal style  as well as put together a series of great looks that can get you through the holidays in style.

A great example of this is selecting the right suit that flatters your body type and makes sense for
your lifestyle. With a suit, a great fit and tailoring that works for you are incredibly important as well as the right color and fabric. If you're an informal dresser and only need to have 1 or 2 suits, they have to be the right ones. If you don't feel comfortable in fitted clothes, that extremely form fitting suit that looked so great when you bought it will just end up hanging in your closet. Another option would be to get a good looking sport coat to wear with a great pair of jeans.

"Judy is an amazing ‘secret weapon' to any business professional. She takes the time to really listen to her clients needs and gives them style and confidence to always look and feel their best.  When you want to look fabulous, Judy makes figuring out ‘what to wear’ fast and easy.
She’s worked with a number of our real estate agents and they have all given her huge praise and glowing accolades."

Shopping sins 8-10 https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2015/9/shopping-sins-8-10 Many of you really had a positive reaction to the Seven deadly sins of shopping. It struck a chord with many of my clients and opened up many important dialogues about how to keep shopping in a perspective in your life.
I think that the emotional relationships we have can play into impulsive buying and more. Sometimes we aren't aware of what's at the heart of it. So here are a few more for you:

8. Revenge Shopping
Angry with your significant other? Had a super bad day at the office? Well, put down your IPad and avoid logging onto your favorite internet shopping site. When you are overwhelmed with negative emotions avoid online shopping at all costs! This is a time to take a walk or resolve the issue, not to take out your credit card. Learn to recognize the revenge shopping symptoms and then redirect the behavior so you don’t end up with a closet that’s full of emotional purchases.

9. “Sorority Style” Shopping
Is shopping your favorite “go to” activity? Do you find shopping to be a major aspect of your relationship with some of your friends?
Shopping can be a social and fun activity – there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a shopping trip with girlfriends!  The problem arises when it is the only thing you do together, and you do it so frequently that it’s starting to do you financial or emotional harm.
If you have girlfriends or family who have also turned shopping into a sport, this can be even more dangerous, as you have ‘partners in crime’ who keep you going.

10. Not Having a Plan
A common mistake many of my clients make is not knowing what they are shopping for before they start. They do not do a ‘wardrobe review’ before they go shopping, to determine where their gaps are and what they really need.
This kind of shopping can often result in a random approach to shopping, where every alluring table display and rack of new items captures your attention, and you roam from store to store with no plan or strategy in your head.
The result is that you have a much higher chance of bringing home ‘orphans’ that don’t work in your wardrobe as well as you would like, and that do not coordinate with other items you have, or even items that don’t fit or don’t work with your lifestyle and personality.  These are the items that can sit and hang unworn, unused and unloved in your closet, often with the tags still attached.

It’s no wonder so many men and women feel frustrated with their wardrobes, having a closet full of impulse buys and things that seemed like a great idea at the time truly leave you with "nothing to wear"!

The seven deadly sins of shopping and how to avoid them https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2015/9/the-seven-deadly-sins-of-shopping-and-how-to-avoid-them Costly errors you don’t want to make

#1 Not knowing what’s in your closet already. AKA serial purchasing

This one’s a biggie. We all have things we love and know that they work for us but we find ourselves unconsciously buying the same thing over and over, year after year. Basics aside, do you really need another _______? A closet audit is in order if you serial purchase too many of the same things. I'll help you determine what stays, what goes and what's needed.

#2 Impulse buying
Many clients have closets chock full of impulse buys and not enough wardrobe basics. I recently posted Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2014 collection on my facebook page. It’s all about beautiful basics, style and quality; they are looks worth wearing. I’m not against the occasional impulse buy but an “impulse wardrobe” will leave you feeling like you have "nothing to wear."

#3 Buying recklessly at sales
Do you walk away with 'bargains' that are too small, too big and/or not flattering? You may think ‘I’m saving 30%’ but remember, you’re still outlaying the other 70%, so it’s not exactly a freebie. Sometimes you CAN pick up incredible pieces at a discount. Sales can be thrilling, just be sure that your purchase is size-wise and style-wise. Many sale items cannot be returned.

#4 Taking the term ‘retail therapy’ literally
It may seem like a quick fix, but shopping to numb any kind of pain is dangerous. Remember Carrie from 'Sex and the City' Spending her rent on shoes after a breakup?  A little retail therapy can take the edge off a bad day, but don’t let your emotions cloud your judgment or you risk committing all the shopping sins already mentioned.

#5 Hitting the shops with friends:
It’s a common pitfall among friends. A great friendship does not necessarily mean a great shopping partnership. Sadly, a gamut of things can get in the way of reliable friend-to-friend fashion advice, from subliminal sabotage to pre-shopping champagne.  Go with someone you unequivocally trust or go alone.

Tip: This is where my professional advice makes the biggest difference!

#6 Not properly caring for what you own
Putting worn clothes back into you closet without cleaning or airing them, is not a good idea! Not properly cleaning or caring for the clothes you love will have an impact on how well they will last.

I can help you figure out what you need for proper care, storage and maintenance of your wardrobe. The right hangers, bins and shoe racks will simplify your closet and minimize damage to your clothes.

Tip: A “closet cleaning” session with me will keep you on the right track.

#7 Immediately ripping off tags and throwing out receipts
Make sure you try your new purchase on at home BEFORE cutting off the shop tag or discarding the receipt. I can’t tell you how many times I've discovered unseen holes, marks, still-affixed security devices or mistakenly have taken home the wrong size. Tags and a receipt are your tickets out of a mess, so don’t be be quick to discard them – trust me.

Tip: have a filing system for receipts; I can help you with that

Vacation Packing Tips https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2015/7/vacation-packing-tips Vacation Packing Tips

It's vacation time and many of my clients often have a great formula for business travel packing but find packing for their holiday travel overwhelming. Those bulky garment bags are great for suits and business wear but not ideal for your vacation.
Knowing what to bring, how to pack it and what to leave at home are key to making your vacation a fun and fashionable experience.
If packing is a stressful experience for you, I can provide you with expert assistance on how to keep it simple and fashionable.

Please call me at 415-517-2514 for an appointment

1. Roll don't fold. Rolled clothes are easier to see, wrinkle less and you won't have to empty your bag to get out a t shirt.

2.
Toiletries should be packaged in ziploc bags with the tops tightly on. Travel sizes only for your carry ons.

3.
Make a list of the essentials, and stick to it. Most people bring too much. Layer dressing and bringing a supply of neutrals that work well with each other piece is a great strategy. Bring in that pop of color with your accessories. Also, this is the time to have GREAT sunglasses.

4. The RIGHT HANDBAG can go from day to night. A fabulous shopper-style bag or a leather back pack can carry a day's worth of supplies and double as a beach bag.

5.
Know your airline's baggage policy. Airlines vary greatly in what they allow and have extra charges for.

6.
Don't over pack your bags. leave room for vacation shopping, and those great items you find when you're out and about exploring!

7. What not to packEvery little bit of space helps. Start with your handbag. Clean all those old grocery store receipts out of your wallet, swap your pile of paperbacks for an e-reader and forget about those "just in case" items you could easily buy in your destination.

8. Bring your passport or enhanced ID. Even if you think you may not need it, sometimes that opportunity  presents itself to take a side trip to Canada, Bimini or another exciting adventure, so it's good to be prepared.

9. Don't Pack More Than One Guidebook. Thanks to the internet, phones and tablets are sending guidebooks into extinction. Still, some of us are still addicted to these little gems of information. Do you really need a whole stack of them? One comprehensive guidebook should do the trick, especially if it focuses on off-the-beaten track information abut your destination.

10. Think twice before bringing expensive watches or jewelry.  Tourists are often targets. You can look stylish and fashionable without them. Don't let a stolen piece of jewelry ruin your vacation.

"Judy has helped me pack for multiple trips including a 3 week African safari with just a carry on! She works with me to organize my clothes, accessories and jewelry; I am always well dressed and unstressed when I am on my trip!  Whenever I am planning a trip, I will always call Judy to help me out!"

What do you actually wear? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2015/1/what-do-you-actually-wear Happy New Year!

An important aspect of the new year is a fresh resolve to simplify and organize our life. January is a time for introspection and reflection on what we need to improve and refine, what needs to be left behind and what needs to be nurtured and supported in our spirit.
This is the ideal time to do a closet purge, it can liberate your spirit and allow you the psychic space to move forward.
Our willingness to release the accumulation of possessions that are no longer part of our life can meet with a lot of inner resistance. I provide expert guidance to help you through what can be an emotional experience, this is where years of experience in helping my clients define what is essential your life in the here and now.
Together we review, assess and refine your wardrobe, answering the question “What do you actually wear and use?”
This purge can be the initial step in creating an image that defines who you are now, putting your best foot forward into the future.
Trust me, letting go of the nonessential accumulation can be a most liberating experience. Please call me and we can set up an appointment to start you on a fresh direction in 2015.

Here's to a wonderful year!

“I felt very comfortable with you, I’m loving the process, it’s not only great Feng Shui, but cleansing for the soul in letting go. I think you have mastered the art of editing by bringing in your knowledge and spirituality, which turns the process into magic.”

Is It A Uniform Or Your Personal Style? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2014/11/is-it-a-uniform-or-your-personal-style

Do you find yourself resorting to the same outfit combination or look every day?
Is it a problem or a solution?

In the past everyone dressed for every event, people changed their clothes several times daily, many events
REQUIRED the donning of appropriate clothes, such as dinner at a nice restaurant where men wore a suit jacket and tie and women a dress.
Things are very different now, what was considered athletic clothing 20 years ago is now acceptable just about anywhere, black tie is a suggestion rather than a requirement.
In many ways the relaxed approach has been a blessing, extensive wardrobes of occasion specific outfits are history, dressing has veered favor of a simpler approach, stylish separates and multi-purpose pieces are the core of most people’s wardrobes.
If find yourself wearing the same thing every day you may have fallen into the trap of the uniform, an unvarying combination that keeps you from having to make a daily style choice. This is different to an outfit that is a
personal style choice that expresses your personal style i.e. Steve Jobs’ black turtleneck and jeans, Karl Lagerfeld’s stiff collars and black gloves and Hillary Clinton’s famous pantsuits.
Men seem to do better with a simple uniform-like clothing option; sometimes their personal style can only be expressed in the choice of a watch or lapel size. For women, particularly busy women, the uniform can be a real trap, those lululemons and sneakers are comfortable and easy, but can really take the excitement out of one’s look.
The art of dressing lies in transforming the uniform into a great personal style, and this transformation can require a second set of eyes (mine!) to assist the metamorphosis. I can help you out of the uniform rut and help you create your personal style. You’ll still have the outfit combinations that suit your lifestyle and comfort level, but with that added panache that transforms the look to personal style.

Let's talk about a style session that will define and refine your personal style.

We can pinpoint essential wardrobe items and options to keep you from falling into the "uniform trap" .

Easy Pieces https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2014/9/easy-pieces When I work with clients, I try to focus on the easy piece to add that updates their wardrobe.  Great wardrobes start with a strong base of neutral foundation pieces: pants, skirts, shirts and jackets. Separates are the key to creating many dressing options, you never need to wear the exact same combination over and over, many looks from some simple basics.
An essential part of any closet session will focus on assessing the easy pieces that will be the basics for your wardrobe, then adding focus and style with great accessories.
This year, to quote style sage, Bill Cunningham gray is the new black, it really makes a simple, beautiful statement.

Gray pairs well with strong color and white. Here are some accessory trends that work with a gray palette. I chose a variety of price options and I want you to try and guess which one is the expensive one. The prices and designers are shown below!
Let's talk about a closet session that will address and refine your wardrobe options. We can add great accessories to your foundation pieces and bring it all together for fall.

"Not only does she make YOU look as if you are the queen of style, she creates a dazzling new wardrobe from what you have already. Her ability to meet every woman right where she is in relationship to her body, style, finances, and needs is truly masterful.  After a session with Judy, not only is my closet organized pristinely, it's radiant with choices. I always feel like I save myself time and money with unnecessary shopping. I also love having Judy's support to pack for business trips, special events or vacations because I have everything I need once I get there to look great and feel comfortable, and it's all in one suitcase rather than three!"  Michele | Larkspur

What's a Closet Cleaning Session? https://www.judydomenici.com/blog/2014/4/whats-a-closet-cleaning-session I recommend a closet cleaning at least twice a year, with Spring and Fall being the most important seasons to freshen up your wardrobe, get organized and take stock of what you have and what you might need.

These sessions are essential for many reasons. We typically find many "new" outfits with what you already have and insure that your beautiful items are stored properly so that they last. How many sweaters have you lost to bad hangers? You also may want to buy multiples of something like the jeans you love before they wear out. This is not the same as serial shopping—one of the “Seven Deadly Sins of Shopping” that I mentioned last month!

I know how busy most of my clients' lives are, and a closet cleaning is where my professional skills make a significant difference in creating ease through seasonal transitions. Together we’ll review your wardrobe and find whatever gaps you might have for Spring and Summer. I will then help you decide what needs to be stored, what needs to be cleaned and what needs to go. I have many suggestions for keeping items like shoes and handbags in pristine condition until they’re needed again. Once we have your closet looking fabulous and know where the gaps are, we’ll follow up with some focused shopping where you’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to find what you’re looking for.

Great style begins with a beautiful wardrobe that equips you with options for any occasion. You’ll feel so confident knowing that when you open that closet door, you have the right thing to wear!
